At Eu Yan Sang, our founding mission of "caring for mankind" is at the heart of everything we do. Beyond offering great products and services that improve the lives of our customers, Eu Yan Sang also contributes to the advancement of the community with the many projects we have developed and participated in.

Eu Yan Sang is dedicated to spreading the goodness of TCM to the public and has worked with institutions, the media and a variety of experts to achieve this in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

These are some of the programmes we have supported:

2005 - 2010

Eu Yan Sang supported the Traditional Medicine Expo held in Singapore, which served as a platform for industry players to exchange knowledge and expertise. The Expo attracted more than 7000 visitors and 90 exhibitors each year.

Eu Yan Sang supported the World Gourmet Summit for six years as a Premium Chinese Herb Partner. The event was an international culinary platform for world-renowned Michelin-star chefs to present their culinary skills.

Through the use of Chinese herbs, Eu Yan Sang showcased the Chinese culture and philosophy of balanced diets to the event's high-profile audience, demonstrating how TCM can be a part of our lifestyle.

2001 - 2010

For ten consecutive years, we sponsored an infotainment programme in Mandarin - "Modern TCM" produced by Mediacorp TV, Singapore.

Eu Yan Sang pioneered the sponsorship of such a healthcare programme focusing on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Singapore. Subsequently, we sponsored a similar TCM healthcare programme "Elements of TCM" in English for Channel NewsAsia.

Eu Yan Sang also pioneered a customised drama/infotainment programme known as "Bertha's Nest", where the TCM aspects of health maintenance and how TCM can be a part of our lifestyle were weaved into the drama programme.

2006 - 2008

Eu Yan Sang Hong Kong sponsored a variety of innovative TV programmes to promote a greater awareness of TCM.

These programmes include "Adventure for the Herbal Medicine 方草寻源" on ATV, "The Herbal Manual 本草药王" on TVBJ, "Health and Fitness 至FIT男女" on Cable TV, etc.

2006 - 2008

For three consecutive years, Eu Yan Sang Hong Kong sponsored the Annual Chinese Medicine Exhibition organised by the Hong Kong Baptist University.

The annual exhibition was well attended by the TCM practitioners, members of the media and the general public.

2007

Eu Yan Sang sponsored the 18th World Organisation of National Colleges, Academies (WONCA) and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians Conference, which was held in Singapore.

The conference gave us the platform to network with 2,500 international and local family doctors and general practitioners from the conventional healthcare practices. We also promoted TCM herbal cuisine at one of their dinner events.

2005

Eu Yan Sang sponsored the first International Congress on Complementary & Alternative Medicine Public Forum in Singapore.

2006

We gave our strong support to the first International Clinical Nutrition & Health Congress held in Singapore.

Eu Yan Sang values the use of research and science in the advancement of the TCM industry. Because of this, we have made substantial investments in support of various research and development initiatives.

2007

We contributed S$30,000 to the Wildlife Conservation Singapore Fund (managed by the Singapore Zoological Gardens) to advance the research, development and application of TCM in animal veterinary.

2003- 2004

Eu Yan Sang sponsored the research and publication of "An Illustrated Chinese Materia Medica in Hong Kong" by the School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University. This was a benchmark volume of the Chinese Materia Medica, commonly used in Hong Kong. It also prescribes a standard to further educate and nurture more professionals for the TCM industry. The book is available in English and Traditional Chinese.

2000

We sponsored the HK$10 million Bak Foong Pills Bio-active Research and Clinical Research by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This 3-year scientific research investigated the pharmacological actions and bio-active ingredients of Bak Foong Pills. Based on a century-old traditional formula, Bak Foong Pills are Eu Yan Sang's flagship product. Findings from this extensive research subsequently led to the development of a new TCM formula - Menoease - in 2002, for the treatment of postmenopausal syndrome. Menoease restores estrogen production and the body's natural balance. It also maintains health and youth after menopause.

Eu Yan Sang cares for the community, the environment, the less privileged, and the victims of natural disasters, through a variety of activities.

2003 - 2010

"Bucket of Gold" is another annual charity campaign initiated by Eu Yan Sang in Malaysia since 2003. The campaign aims to support educational and charitable causes. It has since raised about RM$524,000 for seven worthy causes. This includes Spastic Children's Association of Selangor & Federal Territory, Pusat Penjagaan Kanak Kanak Cacat Taman Megah, Selangor School for the Deaf, Victory Youth Centre, Yayasan Sunbeams House, New Era College and Yok Choy Independent High School.

2008 - 2010

In the pursuit of delivering premium-quality TCM products to our customers, Eu Yan Sang is also mindful of acting responsibly in order not to harm the environment. We have pledged not to sell or use any animal parts derived from endangered species (tiger, rhinoceros and bear), and are in full support of the initiative by ACRES and Singapore TCM Organisations Committee (STOC). The ACRES & STOC Endangered Species-Friendly TCM labels are on display at all our retail stores and TCM clinics in Singapore to further raise awareness of the need to protect endangered species. We are the first TCM clinic network that is showing our support towards endangered species.

2009

We raised S$448,888.88 through conducting a charity walk in Singapore to help the Bethany Methodist Nursing Home, HighPoint Community Services Association and Life! Community Development Ltd. We donated part proceeds of our retail sales in Singapore to these beneficiaries and funded the entire cost of organising the charity drive.

2009

As part of our effort in supporting community projects during 130th anniversary celebration, Eu Yan Sang Malaysia supported Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation (TAFF) to help poor Malaysian couples realize their dreams of starting a family. We raised RM$1,028,000 through a charity gala dinner held in Kuala Lumpur.

2008

Eu Yan Sang Malaysia raised RM$1,116,159.56 for the Sichuan Earthquake victims through the "Don Di Yin" Charity Campaign held on April 19, 2008. Our offices in Hong Kong and Singapore also donated to help the earthquake victims.

2003

During the SARS epidemic, Eu Yan Sang Centre manufactured and produced 42,000 free Anti-Viral TCM sachets for healthcare workers who were at the forefront of the fight against Hong Kong's SARS outbreak. The Anti-Viral Formula (Kang Du Bu Fei Pills) was developed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. We also donated Anti-Viral TCM products worth more than HK$500,000 to Kwong Wah Hospital and TVB for medical and nursing staff, voluntary groups and disadvantaged citizens. As a group, the other offices in Malaysia and Singapore have also supported healthcare workers through other means.

2001

We launched a charity event in aid of the Singapore Home Nursing Foundation and raised S$207,000 for needy patients.

Over the past few years, we have actively contributed to Singapore's arts and cultural scenes. In 2004, we received the Patron of the Arts award by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (Singapore) in recognition of our support.

2010

We supported the Pudu Community Art Project to identify and promote the uniqueness and cultural values of the Pudu community through various outreach programmes.

2005 - 2010

For 6 consecutive years, we participated as a sponsor in the Chingay Parade, an annual street parade that celebrates Singapore's multi-cultural uniqueness during the Lunar New Year.

Through our sponsorship in 2010, 1500 underprivileged residents got to enjoy the Parade live at the parade ground for the first time.

2008

We supported The Arts House Singapore at the 'Spotlight Singapore' programme in Moscow. We featured a herbal-foods reception cocktail on the Opening Night to a group of influential Singapore and Russian business communities.

2003

We participated as a production sponsor for the renowned Singapore musical "Forbidden City" and hosted its gala reception graced by the then Prime Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong, and several Cabinet ministers.

2003

We supported the re-opening of the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore as a part-sponsor.

We believe that education is the key to preparing our next generation for socioeconomic success. By rendering support to educational causes, Eu Yan Sang invests in brighter futures.

2005 - 2010

We started our flagship charity drive in Malaysia for the "One Year One School" project in 2005. The charity supports the building and refurbishing of Chinese primary schools. To date, the "One Year One School" project has raised more than RM$659,000 and benefited 5 primary schools - namely Kampung Baru Semenyih Chinese Primary School, Chung Hwa Klang Chinese Primary School, Ken Boon Chinese Primary School, Min Shing Chinese Primary School and Yeong Seng Chinese Primary School.

2008 - 2010

We launched the Eu Yan Sang TCM Scholarship Program in Singapore to nurture talents in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduates enrolled in the Double Degree Programme in Biomedical Sciences and TCM at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Eu Yan Sang has since awarded S$210,500 to five promising scholars for their 2-year study at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
