We proactively minimize waste in our product packaging by optimizing materials and designs. Our sustainability efforts go beyond packaging, encompassing responsible sourcing and eco-friendly practices throughout our supply chain, reflecting our commitment to a greener future.

 

 

  • Standardize the use of a uniform bottle design for all hard capsule products, excluding the top label. This approach reduces stock levels by utilizing just one type of bottle and results in significant savings by eliminating the need for numerous cap labels annually.
  • We adopted the use of iPads for sending memos to stores, replacing traditional fax machines. This transition has resulted in significant paper savings, equivalent to 3,600 A4 sheets per month or 43,200 sheets annually.

 

  • Successfully reduced the weight of Eu Yan Sang Hong Kong's second most popular processed product, the Bo Ying Compound's tin boxes. This reduction has led to a significant decrease in transport-related emissions and wa
  • Instituted the use of simple packaging for our soup packs, achieving standardization with a single type of material for all soup bags.

 

  • Transitioned from silkscreen to eco-friendly printing for powdered product packaging, effectively reducing chemical waste.
  • Adopted plain materials for small pill packaging to facilitate standardization to a single type. This led to a significant reduction in the number of rolls required, with each roll producing a substantial number of sachets.

 

  • Substituted from PVC to PET for Bak Foong Pills packaging, which reduces wastes that impacts the environment
  • Pioneered the 'Bring Your Own Bag' (BYOB) initiative since 2019, which promotes the use of reusable Eu Yan Sang eco-bags across all our Singapore stores.

 

  • Implemented a change from biodegradable plastic bags to brown recycled paper bags across all Eu Yan Sang stores, effective from 2018 in Hong Kong and from 2021 in Singapore.

 

  • Installed LCD displays in Eu Yan Sang Hong Kong stores in March 2020, reducing the need for printed in-store marketing materials.

  • Mandated the exclusive use of LED lighting in our manufacturing facilities and replaced existing fixtures with LED technology, resulting in an estimated electricity savings of approximately 1.56%.

 

  • Installed a solar photovoltaic system on the roofs of our factory, warehouse, and office building to harness solar energy and contribute to environmental conservation.

  • Instituted a carton standardization program for our products, aimed at reducing inventory and storage space for 41.6% of our stock-keeping units (SKUs).

 

  • Successfully removed excess light tubes from the Eu Yan Sang Centre, achieving a 33% reduction in electricity consumption for office lighting.

  • CONTINEWM air conditioning nets were installed in the warehouse at the Eu Yan Sang Center to optimize heat exchange, distribute temperature evenly, and reduce air conditioning usage.
