Health & Wellness Tips - Sweating

Unexplained Sweating? Your Body Is Sending You a Sign!
Sweating is the body’s natural way of regulating temperature. While many people believe that sweating more helps with detoxification, from a TCM perspective, unusual changes in the timing, amount, or area of sweating may reflect a deficiency, possibly related to weak Heart Qi.

A) Yin Deficiency Constitution

During sleep, Yang energy naturally returns into the body. For those with a Yin deficiency constitution, internal heat may intensify, causing sweat to escape unconsciously.

Symptoms:
•    Night sweats (sweating stops upon waking)
•    Heart palpitations, hot flushes
•    Dry mouth and throat
•    Dry skin
•    Irritability and insomnia

Recommended foods: Lotus seeds, Goji berries, Snow fungus, Mulberries, Barley, Okra, Pears
Recommended TCM formula: Liu Wei Di Huang Pills

B) Qi Deficiency Constitution

During the day, weak protective Qi may fail to regulate perspiration properly.

Symptoms:
•    Cold sweats from light activity or rest during daytime
•    Sensitivity to cold, shortness of breath
•    Prone to catching colds
•    Pale complexion
•    Fatigue and low energy

Recommended foods: Chinese yam, Red dates, Dang Shen, Huang Qi, Black-boned chicken
Recommended TCM formula: Bu Qi Jian Zhong Pills
